Well, seeing as I was quite right about my blogging ability (that and a lack of clients for photos lately), my blog has been quite quiet. It doesn't help that I have been cooped up lately, an invalid. Last Tuesday I laid down to take my afternoon nap (oh yes, all the time!) and woke up and my throat was swollen. I went in to see about it and the doctor, instead of giving me something for my throat (she claims there wasn't really much she could do), says it looks like I have an ear infection. I've always had bad ears and this wasn't really toooo surprising. But it does however, come with a lot of not so fun medications that I have to take at ridiculous times.
This last weekend was the Arts Festival, and I think this was the smoothest year we've had yet! Thanks in most part, to a TON of volunteers we had this year! It was good knowing we could count on them - specially since I wasn't really up to my normal standard of outgoingness. I think that I even did pretty good when it comes to food! I wasn't too horrible! :)
Overall, I feel like June has had it's days where it seems like it's going to last forever, but now we're less than a week away from my birthday and it kind of has me scared! I feel like I should be prepping for school, but I'm still not quite sure what I am teaching next year. Sure I know where I'm supposed to be, but because I have now joined the middle school ranks, I don't quite know what classes I'm teaching. My vote? History and English please! :)
Anyway I'd still love to get out and take pictures if anyone wants them! If the wind would ever let up that is! :)

Astounded.
So this is just a quick thought for the night before I go to bed, because I can't get it out of my head. First off, some background history. I love the Holocaust. Anything to do with it. In a morbid fashion some would say. To me, I like to think of it as human psychology. To imagine that any one person could, in a few words, brain wash an entire nation the way that Hitler did, is truly intriguing, as well as horrifying.
I'm that person that loves when the History Channel does their Hitler week or whatever. I have collected many books of personal accounts or even just fictitious books on the Holocaust era. I love to learn and study different things about it and if you ask just the right question, be prepared for the answer! Anyway, as funny as this all may be, my mom was just as amazed tonight when we went to Redbox to get a movie and she wanted to get "Sarah's Key," which is a movie about the Holocaust that she had heard about at work; that I have never actually watched a theatrical movie on the Holocaust. "Schindler's List?" she asked. "Diary of Anne Frank?" she questioned. Nope, and nope. Don't ask me why, I've just never watched movies, documentaries sure!
Well, that may change based off tonight's movie. It was amazing. It wasn't glossed over with a happy ending like some books portray (ok, ok, not HAPPY in the sense that we think happy, the people move on with horrendous, nightmarish memories, but they're generally ok). It made you think, and question how anybody could live with what had happened.
Oh, and to top it, me, the professor of all things Holocaust, actually learned something tonight. See "Sarah's Key" is about the French deportation and handling of Jews. I knew that France had been occupied during WWII, knew that they had a French Resistance underground. Did NOT know that they, even before they were occupied, had rounded up and treated the Jewish people like Hitler did. Did not know. Makes you think twice about who really was on the allied side.
Anyway, my brain is bursting with the desire to talk this movie out with someone who is not my mom and sister (they just get to hear me all the time). So please, stop by Redbox, spend your $1.28; trust me it's well worth it. Then, get back to me. Let me know what you think; and try to tell me you weren't effected in the end.

Inspired
So, as most of you know, I have many friends who have gotten married in the past few years. Well this has had 2 effects on me.
Effect #1: Depression. I've already vented about this so I'll keep it out of my blog for today! :)
Effect #2: Inspiration. Because people are getting married, they're also posting photos. Well, I'm a photography blog stalker. And I will openly admit it! I L.O.V.E. looking at photos other people have taken. It makes me go, oh, that's a really cool idea! And then I want to try it! But again, I've got no takers.
My friends today told me, you're a family photographer. That's all you take. Well I would love to be another kind of photographer too! So if you have any photo needs coming up (it is summer time!!) please email me and let me know! School is out and I have a completely blank summer without you all! :)
And, I'm inspired at the moment! Haha. But really, I've got some really cute ideas!
